Find answers — straight from the designers — from the most common questions for this plan set.
Have you already done the calculation of reducing the published tow rating by 20%? Using that rule, the alleged safe towing capacity margin for a tiny house is the vehicle’s tow capacity x 0.8. There are a lot of resources out there that address this topic – here is one example: http://fifthwheelst.com/unsafe-eighty-percent-towing-rule.html

It’s rare that someone finds a set of tiny house plans and doesn’t want to alter a thing. So, you are free to modify the plans as needed but safety must be addressed. On a moveable tiny house, weight distribution is paramount and making significant changes (such as moving a kitchen or bathroom to a new location, bringing in a grand piano, adding a heavy loft to one end, etc) can severely alter how the tiny house tows. It’s not to say that changes can’t be made, but rather, to remind the builder that issues such as weight distribution must not be taken lightly. All changes are the sole responsibility of the buyer, not Tiny House Plans or our designers.
All of our tiny house plans come with a single license to build. If you would like to build more than one unit, please contact email@example.com. We are happy to establish a multi-use license with you.

Because regulations vary not only state to state but also county to county and city to city, we truly have no way of saying what your local building department will say. It’s up to you to do your due diligence if you are following a legal pathway. That said, having a set of professional plans will certainly benefit you if you go through an application process.
Getting plans printed up is simple and economical. When you buy a set of our digital plans you can email them to a local print shop and ask them to print them onto Architectural D paper. Nearly all of our plans are formatted to print on that size. It will save you quite a bit of time and money compared to printing them locally.
You’ll have 5 download attempts which will expire 30 days after the purchase date. If you don’t manage to download them within 30 days, not to worry, simply go to this page and provide your email address for an automatic re-issue of your download email. Easy peasy!
