The Details

If you’re looking for a cozy, quaint, and highly functional tiny house, Ethan Waldman’s Vermont Tiny House may be the one for you! He designed and built it in 2012 and has been living a wonderful life in it since. Set on a 22′ chassis, this tiny house provides 155 sf of efficient living space.
One of the aspects we love most about the Vermont Tiny House is that it provides a lot of features while managing square footage, cost, and weight.
The Vermont Tiny House is ideal for a single person and/or couple wanting to escape the rat-race and create a simpler life, especially if living in a colder climate. It’s also a great fit for those who want to tow on a more regular basis but don’t want to deal with purchasing a large truck to do so.

Notes From the Designer

The Vermont Tiny House sits on a 22’ flatbed trailer and is approximately 155 square feet. The dormers in the loft allow for extra head room and many windows in the loft area. With a total of 12 windows, this tiny house has a tremendous amount of natural light in every corner. Window and door types and dimensions are specified in the plans.

The Vermont Tiny House is a unique combination of rustic and modern, featuring rough cut pine and cedar details combined with modern efficiencies. It feels right at home nestled in the trees or next to a small pond. I enjoy playing music both on the deck and indoors as the space resonates well for acoustic music. This home is perfect for a couple or individual looking to live a life of freedom and simple pleasures. With everything you’ll need to live a comfortable life, the Vermont Tiny House makes it all possible.

Vermont Tiny House Walk Through

Ethan’s tiny house has a lovely approach with the entrance at the end of the trailer chassis. A covered porch provides extra usable space and also protects the front door and loft window from elements such as rain and snow. A storage locker on the porch is multi use and provides a nice seating area. As you enter the Vermont Tiny House, on the left hand side is a seating area which doubles as a guest bed for an overnight guest. Storage below the unit provides ample space for several pairs of shoes and/or cold weather gear such as gloves and scarves.

Opposite the seating area is a fold down table made by IKEA. It’s large enough for a laptop computer and easily folds down when not in use. There is enough wall space for a flat screen TV too if you’re a movie buff.

The Vermont Tiny House kitchen is quite large for the scale of his home which makes it pretty ideal if you love to cook! A large, double-sink makes dish time a cinch and a three-burner stove is perfect for one or two full time residents. There is plenty of counter space for meal prepping and for storage of small kitchen appliances. Top and bottom cabinets provide quite a lot of space for all of your kitchen accoutrements. There is even a pantry which provides enough space for dozens of pounds of food. Inside one of the lower cabinets is an optional fresh water holding tank.

The bathroom is home to one of the coolest showers we’ve seen in a tiny house! Its walls are lined with copper roofing and the floor with blue stone slate. The toilet is composting and very inexpensive so you don’t need to spend $1,400+ on a unit. A sliding door separates the bathroom from the kitchen.

Access to the master loft is via ladder which means valuable floor space below is not lost. A queen sized mattress fits comfortably and dormer details mean that head room is spacious up there. Two closets provide space for hanging clothes and folded items. Across from the master loft is a secondary loft which provides quite a lot of space for stored items. There is also space up there for an air exchange unit if you live in a climate that requires one.
